India will be another tough test for the Proteas─── MORGAN PIEK 15:09 Wed, 09 Feb 2022
The Proteas face another tough challenge in the FIH Pro League on Wednesday evening when they face India in Potchefstroom.
Last night it was a rude awaking for the national men’s side with a 11-1 drubbing at the hands of the fourth ranked Netherlands.
While South Africa held their own for the best part of the first two quarters, the wheels came off and the Dutch shined with their superior skillset.
The Proteas goalkeeper, Siya Nolutshungu, told OFM Sport that as a squad they are looking at the bigger picture.
“We're getting some international competition against some of the best teams around the world.
“We really look forward to how we can grow our process that we started two years ago.
“We're hoping that it will be a nice build-up to bigger tournaments coming up such as the Commonwealth Games later this year, the World Cup in next year and potentially the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.”
On Tuesday night, India beat France 5-0.
Wednesday night’s game between South Africa and India at the North West University gets underway at 18:00. At 20:00, the Netherlands face France.
