Two boys killed in N12 crash─── 08:35 Thu, 21 Aug 2008

Two boys were killed when their father tried to make a U-turn on the N12 highway in Soweto, crashing into a taxi and injuring another eight people this morning, Johannesburg emergency services said.
Spokesperson Percy Morokane said both vehicles caught fire after the collision and two boys, aged between 10 and 15, died on the scene.
"Both vehicles were travelling east when the driver of the Opel misjudged the speed at which the taxi was travelling and decided to make a U-turn, trying to turn into the N12 west. The taxi with 16 occupants hit the Opel Astra and both vehicles caught fire. These two boys were killed instantly."
Three taxi passengers are in critical conditions in hospital while five others, including both drivers, were in serious conditions. The remaining passengers suffered minor injuries. Morokane said the cause of the accident was simply "bad driving". "We appeal to motorists to please report bad driving," Morokane said.
