Names of murdered Botshabelo police officer and wife released─── MARK STEENBOK 06:24 Wed, 06 Dec 2017
The police have released the name of a police officer who allegedly shot himself and his wife at their Botshabelo home in the Free State last Friday.
Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, says the bodies of Casper and Ester Mavuyo were discovered in their bedroom by his sister at about 05:00. Mbambo says the sister went to go investigate after receiving a suspicious message from him.
When the police arrived, they found that Ester had sustained two bullet wounds to her chest and one in the head, according to Mbmabo. She says Casper, who was a member of the Provincial Trio Task team, had a bullet wound to his head.
She adds an official firearm was also found at the scene. The motive of the killings is still unknown and a case of murder and an inquest into the crime has been registered for further investigations.
