Speeding groom nearly misses wedding─── 07:53 Mon, 06 Apr 2015
Johannesburg & Cape Town - A groom on the way to his wedding, and his best man, were arrested separately yesterday morning for speeding on the N1 south.
Johannesburg metro police Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar says the best man was arrested first around 10am for allegedly driving at 180km/h in 120km/h zone.
The man was rushing to church where he was supposed to be a best man.
The groom was also arrested shortly afterwards caught at 161km/h.
Both men were later released on R1 500 bail.
A women from the Strand was however not as lucky as she was arrested after being caught doing 160km/h on the N2 outside Cape Town yesterday.
She told traffic police she was late for a lunch date when she was pulled over.
The woman, who was travelling alone, was arrested and detained at Site B Khayelitsha police station where she will be held until her court appearance on tomorrow.
