Belville - Former Hard Livings gang leader Rashied Staggie, 57, who is currently on day parole, will be employed as a general cleaner at a Belville office from Thursday, Beeld reported.
Staggie was sentenced in 2003 to 15 years in prison on charges of kidnapping and rape, and in 2004, he received another sentence of 13 years for gun theft.
The sentences ran concurrently, and he was released to serve a term of day parole from Monday 23 September to March 2014.
Pastor Ivan Waldeck, 46, owner of Ukonwaba Investments, said on Wednesday that he had delivered a letter confirming that he had offered Staggie permanent employment, to the department of correctional services.
"He will work as a general cleaner because he has no previous experience. He will commence on September 26. His working hours are from 8am to 4.30pm."
