A veteran mining CEO and international speaker, Clem Sunter has bemoaned a lack of urgent action against the series of strikes in the mining industry.
Violence broke out at an Orkney mine today, while the country’s fourth largest gold producer, Goldfields, has given workers until tomorrow to return to work or be dismissed.
Sunter who served the mining industry for more than 40-years, also as CEO, has fond memories of his time in mining and how disputes were resolved back then.
He says while communication has collapsed, there still is a role for unions to play.
