Budget constraints hold back Bloemfontein hospital hiring─── JOSCA HUMAN 07:55 Mon, 09 Jul 2018
The Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein has 91 vacancies, however, due to budgetary constraints are only committed to hiring 13 new nurses.
An oversight inspection will be conducted at the Pelonomi Hospital this morning. This comes after the strike action over staff shortages last month resulted in the shutdown of the maternity ward. Nurses and hospital staff downed tools and expressed their concerns over staff shortages and vacant posts in the maternity ward. Spokesperson for the DA, Marshalle Frederiks, tells OFM News that the hiring commitment was made by the Health Department.
The Free State Department of Health has been placed under administration since 2013.
