Two more ANC Frances Baard regional executive members will occupy top municipal positions in the Northern Cape following the removal of Sol Plaatje Speaker Elizabeth Johnson as well as the Frances Baard district mayor Virginia Ximba on Thursday.
The new Speaker at Sol Plaatje is Ingrid Koopman while the Frances Baard regional deputy secretary, Wende Marekwa, is the new Frances Baard district mayor.
ANC regional treasurer, Nondumiso Buda, has been appointed as the new Speaker at Frances Baard district municipality.
ANC regional chairperson, Mangaliso Matika, who is also the Sol Plaatje executive mayor, denied that the reason for replacing Johnson was due to any conflict between himself and the Speaker.
ANC regional secretary, Webster Dichaba, however, pointed out that the deployments were underpinned by the "failure to work together" as well as infighting that was crippling service delivery.
