Former ANC Secretary sworn in as MPL─── 11:23 Thu, 05 Apr 2018
Former provincial secretary of the ANC in the Free State has quietly been sworn in to fill a vacancy left by former premier Ace Magashule’s departure to take up his full time position at Luthuli House.
The news of William Bulwane’s swearing-in ceremony broke Wednesday night on social media as Speaker of the Legislature, Mamikie Qabathe, took to her Facebook page to congratulate him.
This has sparked rumours amongst ANC members that Bulwane is tipped to be the newly appointed Free State Premier’s successor as Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC. ANC Chief Whip in the legislature, Neels van Rooyen, says it could be Bulwane or anyone else in the current Provincial Executive Committee or in the Legislature.
Meanwhile, the DA MPL, Roy Jankielsohn, said that it would be a pity if Bulwane is Ntombela’s choice, as he has no experience in serving in government. He says this could be disastrous as municipalities across the province are facing a service delivery crisis.
