North West: Missing educator’s body found in bushes at Mahikeng─── MARK STEENBOK 08:16 Thu, 26 Oct 2017
The police in Mahikeng are investigating a case of murder and kidnapping after the decomposed body of a 56-year-old educator was found in the bushes at Lorwaneng village today.
Police spokesperson, Yvonne Maqoboza, says a missing person enquiry was opened for investigation after Thulisile Ngwenya was reported missing on Sunday. She says Ngwenya, who was an educator at the Lekoko Primary School, was last seen on Saturday whilst going to a bank in Mahikeng. Maqoboza adds that the gruesome discovery was made by a shepherd at 12:00 this afternoon...
She says family is being informed about her passing. Moqoboza adds that her vehicle, a Mazda CX3 was found parked near the Mahikeng taxi rank.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, condemned the incident and all acts of violence against women and children. She says it is not normal when women and children are still kidnapped and killed. She further said that the matter will get necessary attention to ensure that those who are responsible are brought to book.
The 2016/17 crime stats report released by the Minister of Police Fikile Mbalulu on Tuesday showed that 901 people were murdered in North West and nearly 900 more were victims of attempted murder.
