‘Our leaders must keep us in the loop’ – Limpho Hani─── MOEKETSI MOGOTSI 07:09 Tue, 30 May 2017
Bloemfontein - Limpho Hani, the wife of slain SA Communist Party leader, Chris Hani, says the country’s leadership must keep its citizens in the loop.
Hani was reacting to the news that Chris Hani’s killer, Janusz Walus, has had his South African citizenship revoked by Home Affairs and that he could be deported should the appeal against his parole fail.
She was addressing theANC Women’s League and SACP members outside the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) where submissions were presented to challenge Walus’s parole in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
Hani family lawyer, Nkopane Thaanyane, says they are concerned about this new revelation.
“You being released on parole does not mean you have served your sentence in full. Parole is still part and parcel of a punishment which an inmate has to serve. The family would still like to say something about the possible revocation of his citizenship. The family is clear. We are going to engage the ministry of justice. We are going to engage the Department of Home Affairs to understand exactly what would have formed the basis for the revocation of his citizenship,” he says.
