New Public Protector receives FS complaint─── CATHY DLODLO 15:51 Wed, 19 Oct 2016
Bloemfontein - Three days into her job as newly appointed Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, received a complaint from the Free State.
DA MPL Roy Jankielsohn says he wrote to Mkhwebane, asking her to investigate another case of alleged conflation of party and State in the province.
This follows after the former Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, published a report just months before her departure on the provincial government’s flagship service delivery vehicle – Operation Hlasela. The report found the provincial government guilty.
Jankielsohn says in the latest allegations the Head of the provincial Department of Police Roads and Transport, Sandile Msibi, solicited donations from contractors to pay for a table with a price tag of R40 000 at the presidential dinner that took place in Bloemfontein earlier this year. Jankielsohn says the request for the donations was however done on the department’s official stationary.
