Home Affairs extends working hours for collection of ID's─── 15:55 Tue, 02 Aug 2016
Bloemfontein - Home Affairs offices will be open from 07:00 until 19:00 tomorrow on election day to allow members of the public to collect their ID’s and smart cards.
Home Affairs officials, who will be working on election day, are expected to cast a special vote.
There are at least 282 300 uncollected identity documents at Home Affairs offices across the country.
Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, says in preparation for the municipal elections, the Department of Home Affairs has decided to extend normal working hours.
He has urged applicants to collect their ID’s.
