Bloemfontein - Charismatic evangelistic preacher, Anchus Buchan, pulled an estimated crowd of one million people at the It’s Time Prayer Gathering held at the Wilde Als Farm 3km outside of Bloemfontein on Saturday.
People drove, flew and walked from all parts of South Africa and from abroad to pray for stability and peace in the country.
To his own surprise Buchan confessed that he had never seen a such a great turnout in the 40 years he has been a preacher.
Buchan said they received an overwhelming response with only six weeks to prepare for the event.
“There’s [as] many people here today as the Israelites that were delivered from slavery in Egypt, one million. History is in the making today. This meeting today is a prayer meeting. It is not a gospel concert, it is not even an evangelistic outreach,” he said.
Buchan added that the event received 18 million responses on Facebook within the first two weeks of its announcement.
He also said he is waiting for the day South Africa becomes a country with a Christian government.
