“He put our school on the map so that everyone could see the efforts that we make every day to change the lives of our learners."
The Free State's top learner from the Selelekela Senior Secondary School in the Free State, Kamohelo Msikili who presented the province at the national level became a hero to his school and parents.
"He made us all happy and realised that our daily hard work throughout the year was not a waste of time. He put our school on the map so that everyone could see the efforts that we make every day to change the lives of our learners," said deputy principal, Jimmies Komako, in an exclusive interview with OFM News.
Msikili obtained 100% in Mathematics, Geography, Physical Science, and Life Orientation. He presented the province as one of the performers at the announcement of the 2023 matric results.
“Hierdie merkwaardige prestasie vertoon nie net die individuele briljantheid van leerders nie, maar weerspieël ook die kollektiewe verbintenis tot uitnemendheid wat in die Vrystaat se onderwysstelsel ingeburger is.” https://t.co/yRrnaKWfri

Komako said on behalf of the school and him (Msikili), they wish him success in his endeavour and would like to advise other upcoming learners to stop looking down on them regardless of where they come from.
"Msikili comes from a rural area (Thabong village) but did not undermine himself during the examinations. This is a sign that any learner, irrespective of where they come from, can make things happen and ultimately shape his or her future."
He said this year, the school will be monitoring 133 participants to ensure that all of them obtain 100% bachelor's degrees. He urged parents to start formulating trust in Selelekela by carrying their children to where hard work is written on the shoulders of every staff member.
