2015’s hottest workout trends | News Article

Check out our top 2015 exercise trends.

As 2014 draws to a close, it’s time to look back on what you’ve achieved this year. Did you bag your man? Get the job you’ve been hoping for? Or maybe you put in the time at the gym and achieved the body of your dreams. Well, if 2014 didn’t quite go to plan, don’t lose sleep worrying about it. In just over a week it’s going to be a new year! One of the most common New Year’s resolutions we make is to change our bodies, so we’ve looked into three hot workout trends that can help you achieve that goal.

Mixed martial arts

Not just for beefy blokes, this is a great hybrid class that works your whole body and will give you total body tone and stamina. Combining classic martial arts with elements of kick-boxing, this is a full-on workout that will leave you feeling the burn after. Wear loose trousers or leggings to class, as there are a lot of high kicks involved.

Blended yoga

A must for yoga bunnies. Blended Yoga is a combination of Hatha (stationary), Vinyasa (flowing), and Yin (longer held poses) yoga and anyone from novices to pros can get involved. The intensity of the combination workout will raise heartrates and boost your metabolism, while holding positions will ensure your muscles stay loose, lean and flexible. It also helps you to find inner stillness and peace and is great if you need to feel reconnected. Wear fitted clothes so you can see and improve your poses.

Speed racing

Up your running speed in 2015 with short bursts of sprinting. Mastering a fast mile should be your goal, not running a marathon at Usain Bolt speed. This gets your heart pumping and blood flowing, with numerous studies suggesting short bursts of exercises are just as effective as long gym slogs. Invest in a good pair of trainers, with light shoes being your best bet, as you can get a more responsive feel against the ground. Lightweight, breathable clothes are recommended, as temperatures will rise quickly.
