England’s Mimi Rhodes claimed back-to-back victories on the Ladies European Tour with a win at the Joburg Ladies Open, held at Modderfontein Golf Club on Sunday.

Rhodes held off a strong final-round challenge from South Africa’s Casandra Alexander to finish on 14-under-par, securing a one-stroke victory.

The 24-year-old from Bath displayed impressive composure, closing with a round of 71 in the Sunshine Ladies Tour co-sanctioned event.

“There was definitely a lot of pressure out there,” admitted Rhodes. “I never would’ve imagined this – it’s a dream come true to be playing so well so early in my career.”

“I’m honestly lost for words. It’s just amazing, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season. Hopefully I can keep the good golf going.”

Reflecting on a key moment during her final round, she said: “I was just taking it one shot at a time. I’d been chipping well all day, and the shot felt comfortable. I thought, ‘I’ve got nothing to lose – just commit to it’. I’m really glad I pulled it off.”

“To win two in a row – and to do it in a country I’d never visited before – is just incredible. I’m so excited and honestly a bit overwhelmed.”

This marks Rhodes’ second consecutive title in her rookie season on the Ladies European Tour, following her victory at last week’s Ford Women’s NSW Open in Australia.

The tour now heads to Somerset West for the season-ending South African Women’s Open, taking place at Erinvale Golf Club.
