Norris still leads heading into final round─── MORGAN PIEK 08:01 Sun, 09 Mar 2025

Shaun Norris is on the cusp of securing his third DP World Tour title, and his second in a mere three months, as he heads into Sunday's (9/3) final round of the Joburg Open with a commanding four-stroke lead.
Despite battling an ongoing ear infection, Norris delivered a stellar 67 at Houghton Golf Club, putting him at 14-under-par overall and firmly in control.
His resilience and focus were evident as he navigated the challenging pin positions, extending his lead with three crucial birdies in five holes from the 10th. His ability to perform under pressure, even while dealing with health issues, highlights his determination to win.
“The ear is still blocked and I can’t hear out of it. It was a little bit sore but the doctor has given me some good pain pills. It hasn’t been bothering me on the golf course,” Norris said.
“But I hit the ball nicely and gave myself some good chances. Overall, I can’t complain about the round. There were some bad shots here and there, but that’s golf. It’s more about how you handle the rest of the round.”
“It’s nice to lead by four, but I want to win by ten shots. So I’ll just keep going and change nothing.”
Norris's closest competitors, fellow South African Jacques Kruyswijk and Frenchman Adrien Saddier, trail him at ten under par. Kruyswijk, fresh from his maiden DP World Tour victory, and Saddier, are poised to challenge, but his confidence is unwavering.
His pursuit of this title is a testament to his current form and mental fortitude. With recent victories under his belt, he is determined to add another prestigious win to his record. Golf fans are eagerly anticipating the final round as Norris aims to solidify his lead and claim the Joburg Open title.
