CSA award three new players with national contracts─── MORGAN PIEK 15:54 Mon, 07 Apr 2025

Teenage cricket prodigy Kwena Maphaka is one of three players newly awarded national contracts by Cricket South Africa (CSA), effective from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026.
Joining the left-arm seamer on CSA’s list of contracted players are Warriors all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy and Titans fast bowler Lizaad Williams.
In a move that reflects the changing landscape of modern cricket, CSA has introduced hybrid contracts. These flexible agreements cater to the evolving demands of the sport. Under this arrangement, David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen will be available for select bilateral series and ICC tournaments, as mutually agreed with CSA.

Meanwhile, Wiaan Mulder, David Bedingham, and Kyle Verreynne have all received contract upgrades based on their performances this season. Discussions around Heinrich Klaasen’s future with the national setup are ongoing, with a final decision expected soon.
The upcoming 2025/26 season is set to be busy and exciting for the Proteas. It will feature away tours to Zimbabwe, Australia, England, Pakistan, and India, along with a home series against the West Indies.
Two major ICC events also feature on the calendar
- The World Test Championship Final against Australia at Lord’s in June
- The T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka early next year
“I’d like to congratulate all the players awarded national contracts for the coming year, with special mention to those earning contracts for the first time,” said CSA Director of National Teams and High Performance, Enoch Nkwe.

“These selections align with our strategic focus on the next World Test Championship cycle, as well as preparations for the 2027 Cricket World Cup, which we’ll proudly host on home soil.
“The introduction of hybrid contracts acknowledges the dynamic nature of the game today, and we’re pleased to have David and Rassie remain involved through this flexible model.”
