The Knights cancel out all the white noise─── MORGAN PIEK 17:16 Tue, 18 Mar 2025

The Knights are blocking out the white noise as they gear up for a crucial CSA 4-Day Series clash against the Warriors in Gqeberha this week.
With relegation looming, this is a must-win game for the Knights against the bottom-of-the-log Warriors, who themselves are also fighting for survival.
There has been plenty of debate recently about the points system and the relegation battle, but the Knights prefer to let their performances on the field do the talking.
Recently, the Warriors were docked points in the CSA One-Day Cup for breaching transformation rules by fielding just two Black African cricketers in their match against the Dolphins, instead of the required three.

While the Warriors lost points and their place in the playoffs, the win still stands on the log. The Knights are insisting that this should also be expunged from the records, as it has direct implications for the relegation battle. It is understood that the Knights have already approached CSA regarding the matter, and they are prepared to take the legal route.
For the Knights, the pressure is on to avoid relegation just one season after earning promotion back to Division 1. Dropping down would have dire consequences, including the possible loss of key players – something that happened a few seasons ago.
That said, the onus is on the players to pull together in their last two 4-Day Series games and fight for a place in the final.
Knights coach JP Triegaardt told OFM Sport that his players need to do their talking on the field and not get drawn into off-field politics.
“It was a bumpy One-Day competition, to be honest. Whatever is happening in the papers and on social media regarding the points system and net run rate – it is what it is,” said Triegaardt.
“But as a team, we’ve shifted our focus away from that. You’re spot on when you say we can only control what happens on the field.

“Going to St George’s is going to be a big challenge for us. They’re a very good team, especially at home. But we’ve been preparing well for the Warriors game, working on adjusting to their conditions and playing accordingly to secure the win.
“I’m confident the boys are in good spirits. There were a lot of positives for us in the One-Day competition that we can carry over into the 4-Day Series. But at the end of the day, it’s all about the basics. The team that executes the basics right for longer will come out on top.
“We’re really excited for this clash against the Warriors, and I must say the camp is in a good space.”
The match between the Warriors and the Knights at St George’s Park is set to start at 10:00 on Thursday morning.
