Proteas target series victory against England in Potch─── MORGAN PIEK 10:43 Wed, 11 Dec 2024
The Proteas Women will aim for a series victory on Tuesday when they face England in the third and final One-Day International in Potchefstroom.
The series is deadlocked at 1-1 after South Africa secured a six-wicket win in Kimberley during the first ODI, while England levelled the score on Sunday in Durban with a six-wicket win of their own.
This match will be the penultimate fixture of the multi-format tour, with only the Test match in Bloemfontein remaining.
Proteas batter Anneke Bosch told OFM Sport that, following their disappointing performance at Kingsmead, the team had some tough discussions as they prepare to target a series win against the Lionesses.
“We had a couple of tough conversations after the second game,” said Bosch, a former Free State player. “We obviously didn’t apply ourselves and execute as we wanted to.
“We didn’t stick to our game plans either, and credit to England because they did really well. They put us under a lot of pressure with the quick wickets they took after the first drinks break.

“We had some good conversations, I think, and we are ready for the next game. Hopefully, the result will be better than the one in Durban.”
Bosch added that Potchefstroom is a venue where the team enjoys playing. As a former North West Dragons player, along with Tazmin Brits, she is familiar with the conditions and expects the pitch to offer something for both bowlers and batters.
“I think the conditions here are really good. There’s something in it for the bowling team up front, and then it becomes a great batting track. The outfield is lightning-quick.
“We enjoy playing here, but obviously, the conditions will also suit England, as they’re probably similar to what they get back home.
“We’re looking forward to it. I love playing here and on the Highveld. So yeah, I’m excited about the game and what the team can achieve on Wednesday.”
Play at the JB Marks Oval is scheduled to begin at 14:00 on Wednesday afternoon.
