Signing of Mpungose excites the Knights─── MORGAN PIEK 08:56 Thu, 14 Apr 2022
There is excitement in the ITEC Knights camp regarding the signing of the new seam bowler, Nipho Mpungose.
Mpungose, who hails from KwaZulu-Natal, has already played in one game for the Knights and that was during the rain-affected match against the Warriors in Bloemfontein in the CSA 4-Day series.
This is also Mpungose’s only first-class match to date, and while he took one wicket it was enough to earn a contract.
Knights CEO, Johan van Heerden, told OFM Sport that they see a lot of promise in Mpungose.
“We've got a new fast bowler in Nipho Mpungose that comes from KwaZulu-Natal.
“We are extremely excited about him and he played one game for us and it was very promising.
“With a bit of change to his action we believe that he is somebody that will be able to bowl at 140 plus.”
The other new signings by the Knights are Aubrey Swanepoel, Gihahn Cloete and Isaac Dikgale.
