Van Schalkwyk and Mnyaka lead Free State to victory─── 16:55 Mon, 04 Nov 2019

Shadley van Schalkwyk and Thandolwethu Mnyaka led the Magnifisan Free State bowling attack to help them register their third successive win in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge against Western Province in Bloemfontein at the weekend.
The two VKB Knights bowlers shared 9 wickets between them to restrict the Western Province side to 72/10 in just 21 overs. Van Schalkwyk claimed his first 5-wicket haul of the season going at an excellent economy rate of just under 3 in 8 overs. His teammate, Mnyaka, took 4 wickets for 29 runs in just 6 overs.
The home side had a rough start with the bat, chasing a low target of 73 runs, and found themselves on 44/5 after 10 overs thanks to the dangerous opening combo of Andre Malan (4-0-26-2) and Justin Dill (6-0-19-2).
Romano Terblanche (15 off 11 balls) and Shadley van Schalkwyk (16 off 10 balls) then stood firm to bat Free State to victory, with van Schalkwyk completing the innings with a maximum to see the home side to a 5-wicket victory with 37 overs in hand.
After losing the 3-Day match, this was much-needed come-back from the home side. "Great bounce back ability from the boys on Sunday to put Western Province to the sword and bowl outstandingly," commented Free State assistant coach Lotli Sesele. "Shadley stood out as the senior, together with Thandowethu and it was good to see them bowl as well as they did.
"We had a tricky start to our innings, but the middle-order came in and stabilized the situation," he concluded.
