The Free State batsman, Raynard van Tonder, impressed with the bat during the CSA 3-Day match against Gauteng at the Mangaung oval in Bloemfontein.
The South African U19 captain smashed 250* in the match during the Free State innings.
Gauteng batted first in Bloemfontein and scored 334 runs all out during their first innings, with Tshepang Dithole scoring 107, while Nono Pongolo contributed 57.
Thandolwethu Mnyaka was the pick of the Free State bowlers with figures of 4/99, while Romano Terblanche had 3/65 and Nealan van Heerden 2/46 also did a fair amount with the ball.
Batting at number three the 20-year-old Van Tonder smashed 26 fours and 2 sixes in his unbeaten innings, which has been recorded as his highest first-class score.
Van Tonder’s innings led the Free State to 462/9 before they declared their first innings. Dilivio Ridgaard contributed with 53, while Patrick Botha scored 31.
Gauteng was on 66/3 in their second innings when the match ended in a draw.
