Truck accident on N3 near Warden causes major traffic disruption─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 08:41 Thu, 03 Apr 2025

A truck accident near Warden, in the Free State, is causing major traffic disruptions along the N3 Toll Route.
The incident, which involved two heavy motor vehicles, occurred around 06:30 on Thursday (3/4) morning, according to a statement issued by the N3 Toll Concession (N3TC).
Motorists travelling through the area are urged to expect heavy traffic congestion and significant traffic delays, particularly in the vicinity of Warden. The crash has caused major obstructions on Johannesburg- and Durban-bound lanes of the N3, with traffic currently backed up at the scene.
The situation has been further complicated by the hazardous nature of the cargo involved in the accident. The trucks were transporting a highly flammable product, which had spilled onto the roadway, making the cleanup and recovery process challenging. Emergency response teams are on-site, working to manage the situation, but the complexity of the task has contributed to extended delays.
N3TC has advised road users to avoid travelling to the area, if possible. Those who must pass through are warned to prepare for long delays as the cleanup and recovery efforts continue. Road management teams are working diligently to restore traffic flow safely and efficiently, and motorists are urged to remain patient.
Law enforcement officials and road incident teams are also on the scene, and N3TC appeals to all drivers to follow their instructions closely to ensure safety and assist in expediting the recovery process.
