“No arrests have been made yet and the vehicle is still missing.”
Two friends were kidnapped on Friday (22/3) and their valuables were stolen in Phomolong Square, Bloemspruit.
The two victims were watching television in the evening when they were ambushed by four unidentified males, one of whom was carrying a firearm. Their hands were tied with shoelaces and they were forced into the back of the bakkie.
“The suspects took their cellphones, a plasma television, sneakers, a solar battery pack, and a key to the Ford Ranger bakkie,” said Free State police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli.
“The victims were forced into the back of the bakkie and driven to a secluded area in Phase Seven.”
The friends were dropped off with two suspects who held them hostage while the others drove off with the vehicle. They were able to escape and make their way to the Bloemspruit Police Station when their kidnappers left to collect wood for a fire.
“No arrests have been made yet and the Ford Ranger single cab, with registration number KY 28 VF GP, is still missing,” said Kareli.
“Anyone with information is requested to call the Bloemspruit Police Station, the police crime line (0860010111), or drop an anonymous tip-off on the My SAPS App.”
