“Until the reservoir has reached full capacity the shutdowns will continue.”
The nightly water shutdowns were reinstated on Wednesday (6/9) from 20:00 until 04:00. This is necessary to improve water levels at the Newton Reservoir.
“Until the reservoir has reached full capacity the shutdowns will continue,” said Sol Plaatje Local Municipality spokesperson, Thoko Riet.
She said residents around the Newton Reservoir often lack water or have poor water pressure, however, this improves during the day. To remedy the situation, the water interruptions were implemented. Further information regarding this matter will be communicated by the municipality.
