Two dead, one injured after N8 collision between bus and vehicle─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 08:30 Fri, 18 Apr 2025

A collision between a motor vehicle and a bus on the N8 Section 10 near Bloemfontein has claimed two lives.
According to the Free State Road Incident Management System (RIMS) spokesperson, Sipho Towa, emergency services were alerted about an accident on Thursday evening (17/4), approximately 5 kilometres from Makro heading towards Kimberley. Upon arrival, they discovered three individuals entrapped in the motor vehicle.
Emergency personnel, including the Fire Services, were activated to assist with the extrication of the trapped victims. Two people were declared dead, and the other one with injuries was taken to the Pelonomi Trauma Unit.
Towa said the bus driver, who was travelling alone, was not injured.
Police and traffic services managed lane obstructions caused by the incident while Fire Services undertook the difficult task of removing the deceased from the wreckage.
The names of the victims have not yet been released as authorities work to notify next of kin.
Towa confirmed that the road has since been cleared and traffic flow in the area has returned to normal.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
