Thabo Bester’s escape: Another G4S guard arrested─── LUCKY NKUYANE 15:00 Wed, 19 Apr 2023
The police have made yet another breakthrough in the Facebook rapist and convicted murderer Thabo Bester’s escape.
The Free State police have arrested another security guard employed by the British security company G4S.
The 51-year-old man is the second guard from the controversial company to be arrested by the police in connection with the escape of Bester from cell 35 in May 2022.
Police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, says he will appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 20 April 2023.
Mathe says the suspect was arrested on Tuesday 18 April 2023 at the Mangaung Correctional Centre in Bloemfontein.
He faces a charge of assisting an inmate to escape from lawful custody and defeating the ends of justice.
On Monday 17 April 2023, Bester’s girlfriend, Nandipha Magudumana, her father, Zolile Sekeleni, former G4S guard Senohe Matsoara and a technician Teboho James Lipholo appeared in court for bail information.
Sekeleni was then granted R10 000 bail whilst his daughter and two others were remanded in custody for their next court appearance set for bail application on 3 and 4 May 2023.
Sekeleni's case was postponed to 16 May, when he is set to also appear alongside Bester and others.
The state prosecutor indicated that Sekeleni faces a Schedule 1 offence – aiding and abetting an escapee.

The state is set to oppose their bail application.
The four were arrested on different days following the leaked revelation that Bester faked his death by fire in his prison cell.
The Tanzanian police arrested Magudumana and Bester after being on the run from the South African Police Services after this information.
Matsoara was arrested at his residence in Bloemfontein, while Sekeleni was arrested at his home in Port Edward. Lipholo was also arrested in Bloemfontein.
The National Prosecuting Authority's spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping, has previously said the state has a strong case against Bester and his alleged accomplices.
