R100,000 reward offered for information on missing corpses in Kuruman─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 22:14 Fri, 18 Apr 2025

Police in the Northern Cape are intensifying their efforts to solve a chilling case that has left a community in shock and mourning.
A reward of R100,000 has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft of three corpses from a local funeral parlour.
The incident occurred in the early hours of 17 March 2025, at approximately 01:30. According to police spokesperson Colonel Cherelle Ehlers, the bodies of two adult males, aged 37 and 60, and a ten-month-old infant were stolen from the Motheo wa Bophelo funeral home.
“Police are continuing with investigations into the business robbery that took place at a private morgue in Kuruman,” stated Colonel Ehlers. “On the day in question, unknown men entered a waiting room at the funeral home and assaulted, tied up, and blindfolded the security guard before fleeing with the three bodies.”
The victims were due to be buried the same day, and their remains have yet to be recovered. The theft has left the victims’ families in anguish, as they are unable to provide their loved ones with dignified burials.
The owner of the funeral parlour expressed deep distress over the incident, describing it as “inhuman” and profoundly traumatic for the bereaved families, staff, and the wider community.
‘Law enforcement is actively pursuing leads’
Colonel Ehlers reiterated the urgency of the investigation and appealed for community assistance. “A reward of R100,000 is offered by police to any individual who can assist with the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator or perpetrators and the recovery of the bodies,” she said.
Law enforcement is actively pursuing leads, with investigators working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. Police are urging anyone with information related to the crime to come forward.
