The mayor of the Brits-based Madibeng Local Municipality in North West has called on the communities of Letlhabile, Damonsville and Mmakau to exercise patience amidst water shortages.

The municipality is currently rationing water between the Letlhabile and Mothutlong reservoirs.

Maimane says this is a temporary measure as the municipality awaits repairs of the Mothutlong pump, which is operated from the Brits Water Treatment Works.

Mayoral spokesperson Ikgomotseng Kotsokwane told OFM News that repairs are at an advanced stage and that trucks will be available to deliver water to affected areas.

Kotsokwane says the repairs are carried out off-site and are expected to be finalised before Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Maimane appeals to residents to use it sparingly.
