Girl (15) murdered by boyfriend in North West─── BAMBATHA GIKO 11:47 Fri, 10 Mar 2023
The decomposing body of the 15-year-old Karabo Monyama was discovered in the backyard of her boyfriend’s dwelling in Potchefstroom.
This comes after Cyferskuil Police sought assistance from community members to help locate Monyama.
According to the police report, Monyama’s corpse was found buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of her 23-year-old boyfriend's home. The boyfriend was arrested on the same day.
Police spokesperson Amanda Funani said the girl left home on Sunday 5 March 2023 to watch soccer at a nearby field. Monyama never returned home after the match and a search was conducted around the neighbourhood.
The 23-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Moretele Magistrate's Court on Friday 10 March 2023. Funani said he is charged with murder, perjury, and defeating the ends of justice.
