Police on manhunt for Hawks impersonators─── HEIDRÈ MALGAS 11:39 Tue, 01 Nov 2022

Five individuals in Bothaville, who claimed to be from the Hawks, approached a licensed nurse and demanded R32 000 in cash.
Two ex-police officers were detained and released on bail.
According to police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, at around 07:30 on 11 February 2022, five men who claimed to be from the Hawks approached a professional nurse and his wife and extorted R32 000 in cash from them.
A squad led by Detective Sergeant Kabelo Molebatsi, of the Provincial Organised Crime unit, reported a case of extortion for further investigation. He may be reached at his cell phone number (072-190-7271), or at Crime Stoppers (08600-10111).
The 44-year-old police sergeant, Boipelo Mmolawa, and a 42-year-old police sergeant, Johannes Jacobs, were detained on 18 October 2022 after being apprehended on 5 August 2022. Bail was granted after they both appeared in the Bothaville Magistrate's Court.
These two former police officers will appear in the Bothaville Regional Court on 4 November 2022. The other three suspects have not been located.
