North West premier attempts to reinvigorate Batho Pele principle─── 09:49 Sun, 25 Sep 2022
The premier of the North West is set to try and reinvigorate the Batho Pele principle.
On Monday 26 September, premier Bushy Maape will be expected to lead the Provincial Integrated Public Service Month commemoration at the Greater Taung Local Municipality, under the theme “Batho Pele Revitalisation - Walking the talk”.
According to the provincial government's spokesperson, Brain Setswambung, the 2022 Public Service Month will focus on improving public health and wellness of public servants, and revitalise the commitment and dedication to values and principles of what it means to serve communities.
Setswambung says the objective is to expose Accounting Officers and Senior Managers to the coalface of service delivery.
“Initiated in 2005, Public Service Month is an integrated service delivery improvement mechanism and an essential part of government’s strategy to revitalise Batho Pele, with a specific focus on honouring public servants who serve the nation across three spheres of government.
"The initiative further seeks to minimise the gap between government and communities by enhancing communication, showcasing of government services and empowering communities on processes to access such services.
"As part of the day’s programme, Premier Maape will make unannounced visits to offices of government departments before going to a service delivery blitz at Moretele Thusong Service Centre near Dryharts, where government departments will be showcasing and providing services to the residents.

"Premier Maape will deliver a keynote address and engage members of the media at Moretele village,” Setswambung adds.
On Saturday 24 September, children aged 12 from across four districts in North West were set to meet at the Provincial Legislature for a session looking into social ills mainly affecting young people.
The office of the premier, in partnership with the Provincial Legislature, hosted a Provincial Children’s Parliament under the theme “Maximising the voices of children in addressing social ills affecting them”.
The sitting served as a platform for children to engage with the provincial leadership and make known their challenges to them and address challenges facing children, particularly those regarding alcohol and drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.
