#JagersfonteinDisaster victims talk about their traumatic experience─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 13:14 Mon, 12 Sep 2022
Victims of the Jagersfontein tragedy have described the mine dam's disastrous collapse in the Free State as the most traumatic experience of their lives.
OFM News previously reported that houses and cars were swept away by the stream of water and silt after a mine dam's wall collapsed at Jagersfontein on Sunday 11 September 2022. One of the flood victims, Tshepiso Ngubeni, says residents are hopeful that President Cyril Ramaphosa will not only speak about intervention by providing residents with food parcels, but will talk about what actually will be done to address the issue of houses that were lost in the floods. He also called on the mine representative to take responsibility for what had transpired. Ngubeni, also detailed how he and his family survived the traumatic incident.

"I was in my house when it happened, I nearly died. I've got a house that was built about six months ago, I had just finished it two months ago. It is all gone, including the furniture inside. I wish that we could be assisted, myself and those who lost everything, including their houses," adds Ngubeni.
