Free State police constables: Search continues for vehicle─── ZENANDE MPAME 09:36 Wed, 30 Apr 2025

Gauteng police are still searching for the VW Polo used by the constables who travelled from the Free State to Limpopo.
Debris believed to be that of a VW Polo was found along the N1 in Centurion, which led the investigation team to the banks of the Hennops River.
Police divers found five bodies on Tuesday (29/4) afternoon, including those of Consts Linda Cebekhulu (24), Keamogetswe Buys (30), and Boipelo Senoge (20).
“We are still searching for the VW Polo and our investigation is continuing,” said National Police Commissioner Gen. Fannie Masemola. “We don’t want to speculate at this stage what led to the discovery of these bodies in this river.
“Whether it was an accident or not, our investigation will reveal those aspects once we find their vehicle. This is not how we expected this case to unfold. We were hoping for a positive outcome.”
One of the bodies found was that of the driver of a Renault Kangoo panel van that was found on the banks of the river. He’s an admin clerk attached to Lyttelton Police Station, he said.
A fourth body was found in a decomposed state, and “we are still trying to identify who this person is, a culpable homicide case has been opened”, said Masemola. “The families were taken to the mortuary, where they identified the bodies of their children and loved ones.”

The three police constables were last spotted at an Engen garage near the Grasmere Toll Plaza on the N1 highway in southern Gauteng, travelling in a white VW Polo sedan with registration number JCL 401 FS on Wednesday, 23 April.
OFM News previously reported two of the missing constables were attached to the Free State crime intelligence unit and were on special duty in Limpopo. The youngest officer, Senoge, was based at the Park Road Police Station and served in the community service centre.
A high-level team comprising detectives and crime intelligence officers from both Gauteng and the Free State provinces was mobilised to assist in the search operation, and a 24-hour venue operational centre was also established to coordinate search efforts.
