#GBV murder suspects expected in court─── 16:07 Mon, 15 Aug 2022
Community members of Bloemfontein and Botshabelo in the Free State have reportedly been left terrified by the recent murders of two elderly women.
SAPS spokesperson, Thabo Covane, said the acting Provincial Commissioner, Aphathia Modise, condemned these unspeakable crimes.
Covane said on Friday 12 August 2022 the police received a complaint of murder at Masike Street in Kagisanong, Rocklands, in Bloemfontein. He said upon arrival, the 65-year-old victim was found laying lifeless in a room with multiple stab wounds to the head and body.
In another incident, a 71-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her son in the E-Section of Botshabelo on August 7. Her son reportedly strangled her to death.
The two suspects were expected to appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate's Court and Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court respectively.
This is a developing story.
