NW ANC's planned conference to forge ahead despite court ruling─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:42 Sat, 13 Aug 2022
The ANC’s planned ninth provincial conference in North West, where new leadership is expected to be elected, will continue despite a ruling by a High Court judge on Friday night.

The ANC's national spokesperson, Pule Mabe, says in a statement the party has since instructed their legal team to investigate options at their disposal to deal with the outcome of the court ruling.
The legal team will then be expected to advise the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) accordingly.
It is suspected that the ANC is exploring the option of also launching an urgent appeal against the ruling.
Mabe says the party has noted the court's ruling but despite that decision, the conference is continuing because the court didn’t interdict the conference but rather the voting powers of the Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) members.
“We are hopeful that our intervention will find a positive outcome. We wish the ANC in the North West a successful ninth provincial conference,” he adds.

Last night a High Court judge, Frances Maria Magrietha Snyman, ruled that at least 20 members of the ANC's temporary structure, called the IPC, cannot part-take in the voting processes of the conference. The judge has since ordered the IPC as the respondent in the matter, to pay the cost of the application.
In February, more than a hundred disgruntled ANC members from four districts in the province dragged the party’s IPC to court over an alleged rigged candidate list which contested the 2021 November local elections.
Speaking on behalf of a group of 106 people, Pakiso Mqikela told OFM News that they wanted an order which would direct the Provincial List Committee (PLC) to replace all of the affected individuals as councillors.
Mqikela said the PLC had found that due processes were not followed when deciding on the final list for the 2021 local government election's ward candidates.
