The former North West ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) chairperson, Supra Mahumapelo, has confirmed that he will stand for a leadership post in the upcoming ANC provincial conference.

Mahumapelo, who is also the former premier of the North West, says he will abide by the request and wishes of his branch who have already declared openly that they want the former PEC chairperson back at the helm of the party.

He tells OFM News that he won't defy his branch and he will definitely enter the race.

Mahumapelo is the last chairperson of the ANC PEC which was disbanded in 2018 after he was forced to resign following violent protests in cities like Mahikeng, amongst others, over lack of services.

Mahunapelo was speaking outside the Free State High Court on Friday as he and other ANC heavyweights attended the failed R255 Million Asbestos project criminal case where his close ally, Ace Magashule, made a return for the continuation of the pre-trial.

The former ANC secretary in Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, Lopang Rothman, who is part of the "One Supra One North West" campaign - previously told OFM News that their campaign will not have a list of officials and that only Mahumapelo will be the face of their bigger picture.
