Office of the Premier Spokesperson Palesa Chubisi says the purpose of the visit is to inspect this road, which links Hoopstad and Bloemhof in the North West province.

“The Premier is expected to make a number of announcements pertaining to that road, and also look into how best it can be rehabilitated to ensure the safety of the people of the Free State.”

This visit follows the release of a video which went viral on social media, and led to the road being a topic of discussion for the past few days.

Meanwhile, some citizens have come forward to express their disappointment in the government.

Dirk Ackerman - a truck driver - tells OFM News the MEC for Police, Roads and Transport - William Bulwane - should play his role in improving the state of roads in the province.

“This is my message to the MEC. Get out of your office and come to see for yourself what is going on. As a truck driver I perceive driving in the Eastern Free State to be life threatening at this time.
