Mangaung Speaker says charges against her are a 'witch-hunt'─── LUCKY NKUYANE 13:47 Wed, 18 May 2022
The speaker of the Bloemfontein-based Mangaung Metro Municiplaity has labelled the ANC charges against her as nothing but a witch-hunt.
Stefanie Lockman-Naidoo says the witch-hunt stems from different ANC factions, led by the convener and coordinator of Mangaung’s Interim Regional Committee (IRC).
Yesterday, OFM News reported that a charge sheet sent to Lockman-Naidoo this month indicates that she is being charged with knowingly and intentionally defied the resolution of the ANC Caucus in council by allowing a motion to be debated in the house when it was supposed to have been referred to ANC structures in council.
In January, the ANC's IRC in Mangaung announced Lockman-Naidoo’s suspension after she allegedly defied the order of the party not to allow a sitting which saw the former Acting City Manager, Sello More, removed from his office.
Lockman-Naidoo confirmed to OFM News that she had received the summons from the party’s IRC where she is expected to make representation during the disciplinary proceedings on 7 June.
