North West Premier visits flood affected area of Deelpan─── 07:32 Sat, 23 Apr 2022
North West Premier, Bushy Maape, this week visited flood-stricken areas of Deelpan in the Tswaing Local Municipality.
Maape led a government delegation to assess the situation following heavy rains.
The Premier's spokesperson, Sello Tatai, told OFM News that government is mobilising resources to assist the affected community.
About ninety-eight households are said to have been displaced.

Tatai also says businesses in the area are heavily affected.
Various government departments, the Red Cross, Gift of the Givers, and other stakeholders have stepped in to provide support to the affected community.
In March, OFM News reported that heavy rains had submerged the area, leading to some families having to find shelter at a local church.

Tatai told OFM News the Department of Economic Development is doing an assessment on affected businesses, and will implement intervention measures in due course.
North West Department of Education spokesperson, Ellias Malindi, told OFM News at this stage learners are able to travel to school.
