#KZNfloods: Free State medical personnel briefed─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:51 Mon, 18 Apr 2022
Members of Free State Emergency Medical Services personnel, helping in KwaZulu Natal, have received their first briefing for their search and rescue mission.
This after the team of seven medical personnel arrived safely Kwazulu Natal's provincial disaster management centre on Sunday. Head of the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Mokete Duma, said that more personnel, including engineers, will be sent to KZN to assist them to deal with the effects of the devastating floods.

So far over 443 people have died, with 63 still missing, while at least 13 000 households have been affected by floods.
Free State Health Spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, said the Free State Department of Health, as part of integrated multi-disciplinary disaster management in the province, has considered lending a further helping hand in the national search, find and rescue efforts.

OFM News previously reported that Easter weekend became a nightmare for residents on the outskirts of Mahikeng, as rains wreaking havoc in many parts of the country also hit the communities of Brooksby and Lombardslaagte outside the North West capital.
More than 100 people here were moved from their homes to seek shelter in nearby churches as their homes were flooded.
