An industrial park and digital hub are to be launched at Botshabelo in the Free State on Friday.

The Minister of Small Business Development, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, will lead a high-powered government delegation to the launch.

According to the Department of Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs' (Destea) spokesperson in the Free State, Tiisetso Makhele, the industrial park in Botshabelo underwent an upgrade of almost R50 million.

He says that these hubs will serve as centres of excellence, established to promote digitalisation to stimulate townships and its rural economies due to the location of the industrial parks.

Makhele also adds that the hubs are aimed at connecting communities through digital information and communication technology-related training skills, business development support services and access to work space.

Ndabeni-Abrahams will be joined by the Deputy Minister of Trade Industry and Economic Development, Nomalungelo Gina; the Free State MEC for Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Makalo Mohale; the CEO of the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda), Nkosikhona Mbatha; and the CEO of the Free State Development Corporation (FDC), Thabo Lebele, and others.
