Dlamini-Zuma visits troubled Mangaung Metro─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 07:18 Mon, 04 Apr 2022
Administration issues are set to be in the forefront as the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, visits the troubled Manguang Metro Municipality in the Free State this week.
Her visit comes after the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) concluded its oversight visits in the Free State. It was announced during the debriefing session of the NCOP that Dlamini-Zuma is setting her sights on the Metro, and plans to strip the council of executive powers. This as the Metro has been embroiled in administrative issues which affected service delivery.
The council and the metro have been dragged to the High Court by MEC for Cogta, Mxolisi Dukwana, over issues involving the administrative functions of the Metro.

In a statement, the national spokesperson for Cogta, Lungi Mtshali, says these engagements constitute an integral part of building up to the second Presidential Imbizo in the Metro.
Mtshali says that the presidential Imbizo provides an opportunity to address the province's challenges and unlock any service delivery bottlenecks in accordance with the District Development Model.
