UFS EFFSC attends to student accommodation issues─── 14:58 Wed, 30 Mar 2022
The Bloemfontein-based EFF Student Command (EFFSC) at the University of the Free State has set its sight on addressing issues of student accommodation.
The EFFSC is visiting students’ communes in Brandwag, together with the member of the Student Representative's Council (SRC), Luvuyo Jacobs, to address issues of NSFAS allowances and paying landlords.

OFM News recently reported on students’ protests at UFS campuses as a result of financial constraints, accommodation, and mandatory vaccination, amongst others. This resulted in the temporary introduction of online classes by the institution.

The Central University of Technology (CUT) also protested as a result of some similar issues that UFS students are facing. This resulted in the arrest of five students who were eventually released on warning. The CUT students recently handed out a memorandum of demands and they have given the institution 7 days to respond to their inquiries.
