Motorists cautioned against speeding on flooded R31 road─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 06:45 Sat, 26 Mar 2022
The Northern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works has cautioned motorists against speeding on the flooded section of the R31 provincial road between Koopmansfontein and Middelpos.
According to the department's spokesperson, Crystal Robertson, Kimberley and surrounding areas received incessant rainfall the past few days.
Robertson says that this has resulted in flooding of low lying areas between Koopmansfontein and Middelpos.

She says that vehicles are still able to pass through the flooded road. However, motorists have to reduce the speed of their vehicles.
Robertson further adds that the department has deployed a team that will be monitoring the water levels, while warning lights will assist motorists driving on the road at night. She concludes that the department is engaging with relevant roleplayers to ensure the safety of motorists and truck drivers.
