Mangaung Metro's employees have barricaded access to and from the metro's premises due to non-payment of salaries.

Mangaung Metro's entrances have been blocked by numerous cars.

Employees tell OFM News they haven't received their salaries for February whilst in January, they were only paid half their salaries.

OFM News is on the ground and can confirm that the office of the acting City Manager, Mzingisi Nkungwana, has also been locked and the passages are being blocked by disgruntled workers.

The non-payment of workers has since affected over 150 employees from different political affiliations. These workers have since positioned themselves inside and outside the premises of the metro.

OFM News previously reported that Nkungwana was elected in February to replace Teboho Maine.

The metro is still under administration. It was placed under administration in December 2019 for failing to perform its basic functions of delivering services to residents in the metro. It is also the first metro in the country to be placed under administration.

This is a developing story.
