The MTN cell phone store at Bloemfontein's Mimosa Mall has confirmed that its store was robbed on Friday morning.
The central regional manager for MTN, Sunette Els, tells OFM News that an armed robbery occurred at the Mimosa Mall earlier on Friday morning at approximately 09:00. She says the suspects fled the scene with stock and cash. The police were notified. Els adds that no injuries were sustained and that post-trauma counselling has been arranged for employees and customers involved in the incident.
“The matter is now under police investigation,” she adds. Police officials, including armed security guards, were seen inside the store with potential witnesses to the incident. The mall is open for business.
The robbery at the MTN store in Mimosa Mall occurred on the same day that the Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, is releasing the previous quarter's crime statistics.
