Pelonomi CEO officially moved | News Article

The Free State Department of Health says the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein was eventually moved to provincial health headquarters, Bophelo House.

OFM News previously reported that Health HOD, Godfrey Mahlatsi, told striking workers at the hospital that Baesi Ramodula was “moved aside”.

It was however later discovered she was back in her office at the hospital.

Provincial Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, says Ramodula was on sick leave all along.

He says she returned from sick leave to her previous office before Mahlatsi implemented a decision to move her.

Mvabi says it had long been considered to move her to the corporate office to manage health programs.

He further says the HOD alluded to striking workers that Ramodula was being considered for the move to the Corporate Office based on “mutual agreement”.

It is however not clear why she was moved from the hospital, but Mvambi says it had nothing to do with the strike.

He also says the department did not investigate Ramodula in connection with any internal matters.

Meanwhile, he says, the department is attending to the concerns of the workers and an “assessment will be made by both the management and the unions representing the workers to ensure that progress is fairly presented for public information”.
